Silber- und Goldfolie mit fein gedrückten Mustern über einem Kern. Die ketumala- Flamme mit Blattmotiven und ein Teil der Haare sind aus Gold gearbeitet. Die oberste Stufe des Throns als Lotos gestaltet, von hier hängt ein Textil vorne herab. Auf der Rückseite eine Stifter-Inschrift. Höhe 26,4cm. Zustand B. BUDDHA ON A HIGH THRONE. Myanmar/Burma. 18th/19th c. Silver and gold foil with finely impressed patterns over a core. The ketumala flame with leaf motifs and a part of the hair are made of gold. The topmost step of the throne designed as a lotus, from which a honoring textil is suspended. On the back a donor inscription. Height 26.4 cm. Schreitend auf einem leicht ovalen Lotossockel. Die Linke erhoben in der Geste der Verleihung der Furchtlosigkeit, die Rechte in elegantem Schwung ‚wie ein Elefantenrüssel‘ an der Seite zur Erde weisend. Das mantelartig dargestellte kasaya-Gewand mit anmutigem Schwung. Gewicht 33g, Höhe 11,6cm. Zustand A/B. Der schreitende Buddha wurde erstmals von Sukhothai-Künstlern dargestellt und wird unter anderem interpretiert als Wiedergabe der Rückkehr des Buddha vom Himmel, nachdem er dort seine Lehre unterrichtet hatte. Provenienz: -Deutsche Privatsammlung. WALKING BUDDHA. Thailand. Sukhothai style. 15th/16th c. Goldfoil, probably worked over a wooden core. In a walking stance on a slightly oval lotos base. His left hand raised in the gesture of bestowing fearlessness, his right hanging to his side in an elegant curve, in the Buddhist scripts compared to an ‘elephants trunk’. The coat-like kasaya robe elegantely swaying. Weight 33g, height 11.6cm. Condition A/B. The figure of the walking Buddha was introduced by the Sukhothai artists. It is representing a time when the Buddha was returning to earth after delivering a sermon on the Dharma in Heaven.
