Below are growing spring herbs with dandelion (tanpopo). Inscription on the wooden box inside: Sakura, Kôrin hitsu (cherry blossoms, painted by Kôrin). Sign.: Hokkyô Kôrin. Seal: Kôrin. Farben, Deckweiß und Tusche auf Seide. 39 x 49,5cm. Der junge Herr greift nach der Oiran, die ihn über die Schulter anblickt und dabei ihre lange Pfeife hält. Er ist modisch in gestreiftem Gewand gekleidet und auch ihr obi-Gürtel zeigt ein Streifenmuster. MIYAGAWA, CHÔSHUN 1683-1753 – attributed. Oiran with lover. Japan. Colors, white and ink on silk. 39 x 49.5cm. The young gentleman reaches for the Oiran, who is looking at him over the shoulder holding her long pipe. He is fashionably dressed in striped garments and also her obi belt shows a striped pattern. The mounting consists of an elegant kimono silk of the 18th c. with pine, plum and bamboo pattern in kata kanoko and embroidery. Inscription on the wooden box: Miyagawa Chôshun ga ukiyo-e bijin no omote (Ukiyo e painting with the face of beauties painted by Miyagawa Chôshun). Longer inscription on the inside of the lid with biographical details about the artist. Seal: Urin. Sign.: Nihon-e Miyagawa Chôshun (Tradional painting by Miyagawa Chôshun). Seal: Chôshun.
