Der obere Teil der Kopfbedeckung eines Gelehrten ist separat gefertigt und war ehemals dunkel gefärbt. Er hat den Kopf mit einem wissenden Lächeln nach links gewendet. Der Holzsockel ist durchbrochen geschnitzt in der Form von Wolken. Höhe 28cm. Auf einem Holzsockel montiert. Zustand B/C. Risse, kleinere Fehlstellen und unterer Teil geklebt. SHOULAO WITH PEACH. China. Late Ming Dynasty. 17th c. Ivory, finely carved. Standing in flowing robes and holding the peach with both hands. The upper part of his scholars headgear carved separately and was formerly stained in a dark color. With a knowing smile he has his head turned to the left. The base carved in openwork like clouds. ZHONGLI QUAN WITH FAN. China. Late Ming Dynasty. 17th c. Ivory. Standing in long robes, in his right hand a leaf fan, with his left hand he is perched on a gnarled stick. Height 21cm.
