2198 STEHENDER GANESHA. Nördliches Zentralindien. 10. Jh. Heller Sandstein. Stehend in elegantem Kontrapost zwischen zwei Säulen. Er trägt einen dünnen Schurz und ist an Beinen, Armen und am Kopf mit Perlschnüren geschmückt. Mit den Händen hält er eine Schale mit Süßigkeiten, einen Lotos und eine Waffe. Seine vierte Hand, die zum Segen geöffnet war, fehlt heute, dahinter lehnt seine Axt. Zu seinen Füßen findet sich die Ratte, die als sein Reittier (vahana) gilt. Höhe 40,5cm. Zustand A/B. Standing in elegant contrapposto between two columns. He wears a thin hip cloth and his legs, arms and head are adorned with strings of pearls. With his hands he holds a bowl of candy, a lotus and a weapon. His fourth hand, which was opened for blessing the people, is missing today and behind is leaning his ax.
