The body with numerous acheik borders, in a wider band scenes with riders, cariots, dancers and warriors on a red shaded background. The openwork foot is separate. Inside lacquered red on black, like Japanese negoro lacquer. Height 79cm, Ø 36cm. Conditon A/B. The vessel in squat form on six short feet consists of five parts, including an interior tray and a removable lidded box on the lid. Height 30cm, Ø 32.5cm. Underneath the largest vessel and underneath the inner tablets an inscription with an owner’s or manufacturer’s name inside a mythological animal in incised yun lacquer with gold. Conditon A/B. Woven rattan, lacquerd red over black. The large vessel with interior tray, the lid has a smaller container with lid on top. The elegant shape with the braided surface and the bright red lacquer on a black underpainting recalls Japanese negoro lacquer. Height 35cm, Ø 35cm. Condition A/B. Myanmar/Burma. 19th c. Plaited bamboo, lacquerd vermilion, two lotus borders in thayo lacquer relief. The bulbous bowl stands on six feet and the cover has a foot ring on top, so it can also be used as a tray. The bowl has a beautiful patina with the black rubbed somewhat through the red overcoat. Myanmar/Burma, evtl. aus Mandalay. Spätes 19. Jh. VOTIVE FOOD CONTAINER HSUN OK. Myanmar/Burma, probably from Mandalay. Late 19th c. Bamboo and lathed wood. Relief in thayo lacquer with residue of former gilding. With glass inlays (hman zi wei cha sh), partly in cut shapes. The decoration on the outside is masterfully designed with singha lions and fighters in medallions, surrounded by flower borders. Today, the gold is almost completely worn away, a beautiful contrast to the parts lacquerd bright red and the inlaid glass. Height 71cm, Ø 38cm. Conditon A/B. SIEVE FOR MEDICINE HSAY DAUNG. Myanmar/Burma. Early 20th c. Bamboo, braided with sieve. Lacquerd red, orange over black. The container (hsei leik taung) on a wide stand-up was originally meant for the storage of the components of Burmese cheroot cigars. With the attached sieve it was used for medicine and to separate dried herbs from coarser components. Height 18cm, Ø 31cm. Condition A/B.
