In the curve of a mighty pine trunk a bird has built a nest and cares after her four young. Beside the pine grows bamboo, pink cherries and red plums bloom. Sign.: Kanoe-saru keigetsu ... Shûki. Ein Motiv, das sich in anderen Arbeiten des Zeshin ebenfalls findet. SHIBATA, ZESHIN 1807 - 1891. Birdclapper and rice. Japan. Late Edo period. Around 1832. Paint on paper. 20.5 x 24.8cm. Between the almost ripe rice is hanging a rattle of wood and bamboo. A motif, which is also found in other works of Zeshin. The artist signed his paintings from 1832 with his name Zeshin. The signature in sôshô style was used by Zeshin from 1832 to ca. 1840. The seal used here can be found on works around 1832. Sign: Zeshin. Seal: Reisai. Mounted as hanging scroll. Condition A/B.
