2185 EXTRAORDINARY FIGURE OF A DURGA. AUSSERGEWÖHNLICHE FIGUR EINER DURGA. Nepal. Presumably 15th/16th c. Dark bronze, solid cast and finely engraved. The devi with originally eight arms. She wears a wide garment, at the front draped in big folds, around her hips. Her body is adorned with jewelry and a large skull necklace. Remarkable are the fine facial features and well engraved details of the figure. Height 26cm. Condition B. Arms and legs of the figure missing. Supplement: New wooden stand. THANGKA MIT EINEM SITZENDEN LAMA. Sinotibetan. Qing Dynasty. 18th/19th c. Pigments on fabric, mounted with older Chinese silks. The depiction shows either emperor Qianlong as Lama or the Chankya Rinpoche (Tibetan ambassador at the Chinese imperial court, Mongolian title: hutuktu). Here maybe Chankya Rölpä Dorje (1717-86) sitting on a throne with three pillows, as typical for a high lama. On the back a Chinese inscription giving the name of a temple ‘Xie Li Cheng Tan’. Picture size 27 x 21.5cm. Condition B/C.
