2056 GUANYIN WITH PARROT. GUANYIN MIT PAPAGEI. China. Ming Dynasty, Jiajing period. Dated 1538. Bronze with dark patina and residue of gilding. Crowned, dressed in elaborate breast-jewelry and ribbons, sitting on a double lotus. Both hands in dharmachakra mudra. On the back of the base a longer inscription: Jiajing shiqi nian san yu ji ri zao (At a good day in the third month in the 19th year of the Jiajing period), Shanxi tia yuan fu wen shui xian ming... (province of Shanxi, possibly by order of Wangshi..). Height 19.5cm. Condition B. GUANYIN MIT PAPAGEI, VASE UND BEGLEITERN. China. Ming Dynasty. Bronze with residue of gilding, dark patina, polished in the face. Sitting on a rock base in raja lalitasana, the right hand supported on the erected knee is holding prayer beads. Her chest is decorated with a pearl jewelry, the crown is high and delicate. On attached small lotus bases are standing Shanxi and Longnü. Height 22cm. Condition A/B.
