Der bärtige, freundlich lächelnde Sennin sitzt auf einem rechteckig gerundeten Sockel und hält in beiden Händen die Kürbisflasche, aus der das Pferdchen herausspringt. Sockel und Gewand bedeckt mit sehr feinem, sog. ‚asanoha‘ Muster. B.3,6cm. Zustand A. Provenienz: -Alte Sammlungs-Nr. 174. TSUISHU-NETSUKE: SENNIN CHOKWARÔ WITH GOURD. Japan. Edo Period. 1st half of the 19th c. Wood, completely covered with finely carved red lacquer. The bearded, kindly smiling Sennin is sitting on a rectangular, rounded base and is holding a gourd in both hands, from which the horse is jumping out. Base and robe covered with very fine, so-called ‘asanoha’ pattern. B.3,6cm. Condition A. Buchsbaum, fein und bewegt geschnitzt, schöne glänzende Gebrauchspatina. Der lachende Sennin, die Augen eingelegt aus hellem Horn mit schwarzen Pupillen, in bewegter Tanz-Pose, mit Blätter-Kragen und -Gürtel, teils eingelegt aus Perlmutt oder dunklem Holz. Mit der Rechten hält er sich den kahlen Hinterkopf, am Gürtel hängt eine Kürbisflasche. H.9,7cm. Sign.: Shuosai auf eingelegtem Bein-Plättchen, vgl. LA S. 1006-1007. Zustand B. Der rechte Standfuß ergänzt. Provenienz: -Alte Sammlungs-Nr. 319. NETSUKE: SENNIN CHOKWARÔ WITH KNOTTED WOODEN STICK. Japan. Edo Period. 18th c. or ca. 1800. Boxwood, moved and finely carved, beautiful shiny patina. Laughing Sennin, the eyes inlayed in light wood and black pupils, in moving dance posture, with leafy collar and belt, partly inlaid with motherof pearl or dark wood. He is touching the bald back of his head with his right hand, the gourd hangs down from the belt. H.9,7cm. Sign.: Shuosai on inlayed boneplate, cf. LA p. 1006-1007. Condition B.
