Er steht in gegürtetem, weitärmeligem Gewand mit weitem Kragen und Tigerfell im Rücken und schaut angestrengt nach oben. Er hält zwei Pfeile in der Rechten, einen Bogen in der Linken und Köcher auf dem Rücken. Sein Gesicht wird von einem Kranz langer Bartbüschel eingerahmt und auf dem Kopf trägt er einen breitkrempigen, gewellten Hut. H.6,5cm. Sign.: Okakoto auf rechteckiger Reserve, vgl. MCI S. 613. Zustand A. NETSUKE: TARTAR ARCHER. Japan. Edo Period. 1st half of the 19th c. Ivory, finely carved, engraved and darkly accentuated with fine, partly floral patterns. The archer is standing in a belted, wide-sleeved garment with a wide collar and tiger skin on his back. While looking intently upwards he is holding two arrows in his right hand and a bow in his left hand, the quiver on his back. His face is framed by a wreath of long beard bundles and he is wearing a wide-brimmed, wavy hat. H.6,5cm. Sign.: Okakoto on rectangular reserve, cf. MCI p. 613.
