Liegender Hirsch mit flach angelegtem Geweih, einen Halbkreis bildend unter geschickter Nutzung der gelb-bernsteinfarbenen Epidermis des Zahns. Vor seiner rechten Hinterkeule sitzt ein Äffchen, das sich daran festhält. Sehr seltenes, buddhistisches Motiv: Ein Affe brachte dem vegetarisch lebenden Buddha Obst, der Hirsch das Wasser. B.4,4cm. Lying stag with flat antlers, forming a semi-circle by skillful use of the yellow-amber-colored epidermis of the tooth. In front of his right hindleg a little monkey is sitting holding on to it. Very rare, Buddhist motif: A monkey brought fruit to the vegetarian Buddha, the stag water. W.4.4cm. Condition A/B. Right ear bumped, age cracks. Das junge Tier, den Kopf mit dem weit verzweigten Geweih hochgereckt, mit allen vier Beinen auf einem hohen, ovalen Sockel, wahrscheinlich der Form des Zahnes folgend (mit Himotoshi-Bohrung), stehend. Sperm whale tooth. The young stag, head with branched antlers held high, standing with all four legs on a high oval base, presumably following the shape of the tooth (with Himotoshi drilling). Elfenbein, auf Kopf und Hals fein graviertes, teils eingefärbtes Fell, die typischen Flecken eingelegt aus schwarzem Horn. Liegender Damhirsch, fast zusammengerollt mit leicht hochgerecktem Kopf und fein geschnitzten Hörnern. B.4,4cm. Zustand B. Minimale Restaurierung an der Schnauze. Provenienz: -Alte Sammlungs-Nr. 906. NETSUKE: LYING FALLOW BUCK. Japan. Edo period. 18th century. Ivory, on the head and neck delicately engraved partly colored fur, the charcteristic spots inlaid with black horn. Lying fallow buck, curled up in a ball with slightly craning head and delicately carved antlers. W.4.4cm. Condition B. Minimal restoration on the mouth.
