Cypress wood, very delicately carved, engraved as well as punched; slightly patinated. A large and a small chestnut lying on top of each other, in addition to this a worm with one end sticking out of the larger chestnut. W.4cm. Signed: Nobumasa, in MCI there are hints to a relationship to Tomonobu, but also similarities in subject and fine execution to Tadakuni, Tadayoshi, and Shigemasa. Condition A. Buchsbaum, fein geschnitzt, graviert und dunkel akzentuierte Blattnarben, die rote Frucht eingelegt aus rotem Glas. Zwei Lampionfrüchte (Physalis) mit umgebogenen Stielen. Über die Früchte krabbeln drei Ameisen aus Silber u.a. Metallen. Die Signatur „Gambun“ auf dem Schildpatt-Paneel verrät uns den Künstler, der die Insekten geschaffen hat. H.4cm. Zustand A/B. Boxwood, delicately carved, engraved and darkly accentuated leaf scar, the red fruit inlaid red glass. Two Japaneselanterns (Physalis alkekengi) with bent stem.
