Elfenbein, sehr fein und subtil geschnitzt, poliert und leicht mit Tusche akzentuiert. Schöne, gold-gelbe Gebrauchspatina. Im Innern der beiden großen Nüsse jeweils eine minutiös geschnitzte Landschaft, in einer eine winzige, sitzende Person. B.4,2cm. Sign.: Ryugyoku auf ovaler Reserve, vgl. Late Edo period / early Meiji period. Ca. 1850-70. Ivory, very delicately and subtly carved, polished and lightly accentuated with ink. Beautiful golden-yellow patina. Inside each of the two large nuts a meticulously carved landscape, a tiny person sitting in one of them. W.4.2cm. Signed: Ryugyoku on oval reserve, cf. MCI p. 668 school of Gyokuhosai Ryuchin, Tôkyô.
