2184 IMPORTANT THANGKA WITH THE GREEN TARA. BEDEUTENDES THANGKA DER GRÜNEN TARA. Tibet. 19th/20th c. Colors and gold on fabric, framed with silk. The Tara sitting on a lotus, above her Samantabhadra in yab-yum, beneath three guards including the Chitipati. The fine painting is adorned with gold and under each figure the name is given. In the middle part high-ranking Tibetans are wondering about the dance of two white lions and a goddess. The thangka is consecrated on the back and a small paper is found at the top with inscription in Sanskrit: Arya (worshipped) Tara. Height 56cm, width 39.5cm (115 x 69.5cm). Condition A/B.
