Elfenbein, kräftig geschnitzt, graviert und dunkel akzentuiert, die Augen sind eingelegt aus dunklem Horn. Rundherum schöne, gold-gelbe Patina, einige Spuren roter Einfärbung. Shishi mit lockiger Mähne und Schwanz sich mit den Vorderpfoten auf einem riesigen Ball aufstützend, einen beweglichen Ball im geöffneten Maul. H.4,3cm, B.6cm. Zustand A/B. Leichte Ringrisse, Spitze des Schwanzes vor langer Zeit abgebrochen und weich poliert durch langes Tragen. Provenienz: -Alte Sammlungs-Nr. 1120. NETSUKE: MIGHTY SHISHI. Japan. Edo period. Ca. mid-19 century. Ivory, boldly carved, engraved, and darkly accentuated, the eyes inlaid dark horn. Beautiful gold-yellow patina with traces of red coloring. Shishi with curly mane and tail, resting on a giant ball with its front paws, a movable ball in his open jaws. H.4.3cm, w.6cm. Condition A/B. Edo-Zeit. Frühes 19. Jh. Rosskastanie, sehr fein geschnitzt, graviert und dunkel eingefärbt. Auf rechteckig gerundeter Basis in sehr feinem, kräftigem Relief Shishi, dessen muskulöses Junges auf seinen Rücken und Kopf steigt. Möglicherweise wurde erst später der Versuch gemacht, das Netsuke als Siegel zu verwenden. H.3,8cm. Zustand A. Provenienz: -Alte Sammlungs-Nr. 305. SEAL-NETSUKE: SHISHI. Japan. Edo period. Early 19th century. Conker, very delicately carved, engraved and darkly stained. On rectangular rounded base in very fine, strong relief Shishi, whose muscular cub is climbing on its back and head.
