Buchsbaum, bewegt geschnitztes, graviertes und dunkel akzentuiertes Modell, Augen und Nägel des Eimers eingelegt aus schwarzem Horn. Dieses Modell unter Verwendung eines verrotteten Holzeimers gilt als Parabel über die Aufstiegschance des „kleinen Mannes“ durch Geschicklichkeit, Klugheit, Selbstbewusstsein und Ausdauer. Edo period. 1810-1840. Boxwood, vividly carved, engraved, and darkly accentuated model, eyes and nails of the bucket inlaid with black horn. This model using a rotten wooden bucket is regarded as a parable about the opportunity of advancement of “the common man” by means of skill, intelligence, confidence, and perseverance.
