In sehr fein geschnitztem, graviertem und dunkel akzentuiertem, teils durchbrochenem Relief alle 12 Tiere des Tierkreises (jûnishi) sehr harmonisch komponiert, wobei sich Tiger und Drache heftig anfauchen, ihre Augen jeweils aus schwarzem Horn eingelegt. In very delicately carved, engraved and darkly accentuated, partly perforated relief, all 12 animals of the zodiac (jûnishi) harmoniously arranged, although the tiger and dragon are fiercely snarling at each other, each of their eyes inlaid with black horn. Silver full moon passing over the edge, a wild goose soaring in front of it, delicately carved from engraved horn, yellowish with red-brown and black areas. 6.2 x 1.8 x 1.2cm. Aus einem schmalen Stück Bambus- Wand, die Ansätze der beiden Internodien stehen gelassen, um dem Stück beim Tragen mehr Halt zu geben. Der Kimono ist geschmückt mit Wasser- Rädern zwischen Wellen in feiner, rötlicher, grüner und goldener Malerei, durch Tragen leicht berieben. Mit Papier- Hülle, beschriftet ‚bijin‘ (schöne Frau) und ebenso bez.: Shôsô koku. L.12cm. Sign.: Shôsô koku. Zustand A/B. Leicht berieben. SASHI-NETSUKE: REAR VIEW OF A YOUNG WOMAN IN KIMONO. Japan. Meiji period. End of the 19th century. From a thin piece of bamboo side, the shoots of both internodes kept to give better support while wearing. The Kimono is decorated with waterwheels in between waves, delicately painted in red, green, and gold, slightly worn from use.
