Der Obelisk von Luxor war ein Geschenk des ägyptischen Vizekönigs Muhammad Al Pascha an König Louis Philipp von Frankreich. Dieser ließ ihn am 25 Oktober 1836 auf der Place de la Concorde in Paris aufstellen.
