HISTORICAL DIAMOND-BROOCH
Date: Ca. 1900.
Material: Platinum and 333/- white gold, tested.
Weight: 11 g.
Measurement: ca. 4.1 x 3.1 cm.
Diamonds: 74 diamonds in old- and rose-cut in total ca. 4.5 ct.
Description: Delicate platinum brooch set with diamonds. The bow detail and the fine bars are typical of the technical innovations brought about by the use of platinum and the formal language of the Belle Époque. Such designs are known as "dessins dentelles" (French for lace) due to their filigree nature. Can be worn as a brooch or as a pendant thanks to the additional, movable eyelet.
Condition: In good condition for its age. Traces of wear in the form of minor to medium scratches and small dents visible. Some wires and bars show slight deformation. Mariage: The brooch was subsequently attached, the eyelet renewed, both in white gold. Oxidation and colour differences visible in places at the soldering points. 2 old-cuts and some diamond roses show slight rubbing or minimal wear.
