How do I bid live online in an auction at VAN HAM? Here you will find all information.

What is LIVE bidding?

We broadcast our auctions live via video on various platforms. There you have to register in advance and register for the respective auctions for LIVE bidding. This allows you to intervene directly online in the auction without having to be on site.

The link below will take you to My VAN HAM. You can participate live and safely in an auction, whether you are at home or on the road.

Registration is possible up to 24 hours before the auction, after which you can participate in the auction in real time from any computer, smartphone or tablet and bid on your selected items.

You must first register and then "Register to bid" for each auction.

Please note that LIVE bidding is subject to special rules. 

  • If you are a first bidder, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a request to register as a first bidder and a copy of your ID card.
  • For the use of this online service, the premium is 1% for My VAN HAM and 3% for all others.

On which platforms can I bid LIVE?

We offer our live bidding via our own platform My VAN HAM, as well as the platforms Lot-tissimo, The Saleroom and Auction.fr.

In which languages can I view the websites?

On the respective web pages you can choose between different languages:

My VAN HAM (German and English)

Lot-tissimo (German, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese)

The Saleroom (English, German, French, Italian, Chinese)

Auction.fr (French and English)

Can I just watch or do I have to register?

You can also follow our auctions live without prior registration. To do this, go to the My VAN HAM page and select LIVE from the menu. No previous registration is necessary.

I have forgotten my password, can you send me a new one?

If you have forgotten your password, you can log in by clicking on the button Forgot your password? (The Saleroom: Forgotten Password? to receive a new one.

We do not have direct access to the other platforms here and cannot help you here. Please contact the respective customer service. 

Are there any additional fees for LIVE bidding?

For using this online service, the premium on My VAN HAM, Lot-tissimo and The Saleroom is 1%.

On all other platforms by 3% each.

How do I bid during an auction?

Please log in on the auction day on the respective platform and go to the relevant auction. In the overview you will find a button to log in to the auction (My VAN HAM: LIVE, Lot-tissimo: LIVE, The Saleroom: Connect to auction, Auction.fr: Register).

From there you will be taken to the auction overview. There you will find the current bids for all lots. As soon as the lot is called by the auctioneer, you will see the requested price here. With the button Bid you submit a binding bid.

What's a safe bid?

You can enter a maximum bid (secure bid) for a lot. This is automatically used by the bidding system to bid for you without you having to do anything further. If there are no previous bids, your bid will start at the starting price. In the case of a counterbid, the system automatically increases your bid by one bidding step to the other bid.

Your maximum bid cannot be seen by other customers. You can therefore place a maximum bid without any worries and do not have to intervene yourself at every single step.

Can I place a bid below the lower estimated price?

The start price of a lot starts approx. 20% below the lower estimate price. Further below you can only send us written bids. When the lot is called, the auctioneer announces the starting price, bids below this cannot be submitted in LIVE bidding.

How do I know I've been outbid?

In the case of secure bids, you will automatically receive an e-mail from the respective platform informing you that you have been outbid. You can also view the current status of your bids in the menu under "My bids".

During the current auction, the bid button is highlighted in grey if you are currently the highest bidder, so that you cannot accidentally outbid yourself. As soon as a higher bid has been placed or the current bid has gone to the hall, you can click the button again and you will see the currently requested bid above it.

Where can I see if my bid has been accepted?

In the menu under My VAN HAM - My Bids you can view all bids submitted. If you don't find it there, you may have had an error in the transmission. Please resubmit the bid.

If you cannot find your bid on Lot-tissimo among the bids, it is probably still in the bid planning stage. Check there whether you still have to agree to the conditions of the auction (see red question mark) or enter an SMS TAN (4-digit number code). If there is a green tick under the bid, you can send it to us.

What does the red question mark in my bid planning at Lot-tissimo mean?

If you find a red question mark in your planned bids, you have not yet agreed to the terms of the lot. Please go to edit, check the lot conditions and save the bid again. After that you have to send the bid in the planned bids.

How can I cancel my bid?

You can cancel your bid at My VAN HAM up to 24 hours before the auction. Please send us a short message at online@van-ham.com    

On Lot-tissimo you can cancel your bid until the auction starts. To do this, please log in and go to Bids in the top right menu. Click Delete next to the lot you wish to cancel. After successful cancellation, the bid (cancelled) will be replaced.

Why am I informed that I have not yet been approved?

After your registration for the auction you can already place bids. At this point, however, you are not necessarily already approved for the action. We will check all registrations and approve them as soon as possible. This can take up to 48 hours.

If we still need documents from you, we will contact you directly.

As soon as you are approved, you will receive an automatic notification. Please note that we can no longer guarantee an approval 24 hours before the auction.

After successful approval it can take up to one hour until it has arrived in the system of the other platforms and you can bid. 

What is a bid limit and how can I increase it?

For our LIVE bidding we have set a fixed limit within which you can place your bids. The limit applies to the entire auction, not just a single lot.

If you would like to increase your limit, just send a short message to online@van-ham.com with your name, the auction and the desired limit. We will take care of it as soon as possible.

How do I know if I have won the bid?

At the end of the auction, you will receive an automatic e-mail from the respective platform if you have won a bid.

If you have been outbid in advance, you will also be notified by e-mail.

If you are unsure whether you have won a bid, you can check this in the menu on the top right under My Bids. In addition to your current bids, you will find a history of all your purchases listed here. 

When will I receive my invoice?

We will send you an invoice by e-mail within 48 hours after the auction. Please note that weekends and public holidays can cause delays.

How can I pay?

When you receive the invoice, you can choose from various payment options. You can pay by bank transfer. On site you can also pay in cash, by Electronic Cash or by a bank-confirmed cheque.

Which credit cards are accepted for payment? Are there any fees?

We do not accept credit cards.

What are the shipping costs?

You can find the shipping costs within Germany, the EU and worldwide under the point Estimated shipping costs for this lot in the respective object description.

Can I collect my purchases directly from you in Cologne?

Yes, a pick-up on site is possible. Please register in advance to avoid long waiting times.
