In this auction, VAN HAM presents a complete collection that was created in close dialogue between collectors and important gallery owners in the Rhineland. The selection demonstrates a keen sense for pioneering positions in contemporary art.

One focus is on photography: in addition to international artists such as Nan Goldin and Miroslav Tichý, influential representatives of the Düsseldorf School of Photography such as Candida Höfer and Thomas Struth are also represented. The photographic offerings are complemented by striking painterly and conceptual works by Werner Büttner, Martin Kippenberger, Andreas Slominski, and Raymond Pettibon.

The auction thus offers a multifaceted insight into the development of photography and painting since the 1980s, while at the same time illustrating the collector's keen sense for pioneering artistic trends. At the same time, the collection shows positions “beyond the mainstream” that open up new artistic perspectives away from established paths and reveal the collector's individual perspective.
