ONLINE CATALOGUE
(can be seen from 11 March 2026)

Following the extremely successful auctions in December, VAN HAM is offering the third and final part of the auction of the renowned Galerie Thomas collection this spring. The auctions have already achieved a total result of approximately €875,000. The online auction brings together a further 180 lots featuring works by international artists of post-war and contemporary art, including Joseph Beuys, Victor Mira, Serge Poliakoff, and Zao Wou-Ki—names that exemplify the high artistic quality and breadth of the gallery's program.

Galerie Thomas, founded in Munich in 1964 by Raimund Thomas, was one of the most important addresses for classical modern art, German expressionism, and significant positions in international contemporary art. In addition to painting, sculpture was one of the gallery's central areas of interest. Over the past six decades, gallery owner Raimund Thomas has made a name for himself not only as a proven art connoisseur, but also as a formative figure in the German art trade. In 2016, at the height of his career, the co-founder of Art Cologne was awarded the Art Cologne Prize for his lasting influence on the development of the international art fair scene.

VAN HAM was commissioned by the insolvency administrator Dr. Hubert Ampferl (law firm Dr. Beck & Partner GbR) to conduct the auction, continuing its series of significant insolvency liquidations. Following projects such as the “Achenbach Art Auction,” the “Galerie Michael Schultz,” and the “SØR Rusche Collection,” VAN HAM once again underscores its leading role in the marketing of outstanding art collections.
