Dr. Barbara Haubold distinguishes herself as an art historian, certified gemmologist and provenance researcher. With these competences she has been looking after our representative office in Munich for more than 10 years and thus our customers in Southern Germany and Austria.

She studied art history, classical archaeology and folklore at the universities of Regensburg, Vienna and Münster and graduated with a doctorate. With her many years of experience in the art trade with a focus on modern and contemporary art, she is in demand as a jury member on various art prize commissions. In addition, Dr. Haubold looks after private art collections and is frequently engaged as a lecturer on various art historical topics.

An important focus of her work for VAN HAM Kunstauktionen is the topic of provenance research. Since Dr. Haubold inventoried the art collection of Cornelius Gurlitt in the Salzburg estate, she has been the contact person as soon as questions about Nazi looted art arise. In addition, our representative demonstrates her competence as a certified gemologist. She successfully completed this training at the German Institute for Gemmology in Idar-Oberstein. Thus, Dr. Haubold not only organizes interesting expert days on site for VAN HAM Art Auctions (e.g. on the subject of jewelry or watches), but also comes directly to the house when estates, entire art collections or valuable individual pieces need to be appraised. Take advantage of this free service and make an appointment for a personal consultation or appraisal.

All dates of our upcoming appraisal days can be found here:
